Every year on March 8th, the world unites to celebrate International Women’s Day, a time to reflect on progress made toward gender equality and to renew our commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable society. This year, the African Women and Gender Commission, in collaboration with the African Youth Capacity Commission, is honored to host a special webinar under the theme:

“Accelerating Actions for Gender Equity in Africa”

This theme serves as a global call to action—a recognition of the urgent need to amplify strategies, mobilize resources, and champion initiatives that drive women’s advancement across Africa.

Why This Conversation Matters

While significant strides have been made in empowering women and girls across the continent, gender disparities persist in critical areas. Limited access to education, gender-based violence, and deeply ingrained societal norms continue to hinder the full participation of women in economic, political, and social spheres.

However, history has shown that collective action, unwavering support, and policy-driven solutions can break these barriers and create sustainable change.

What to Expect from the Webinar

This engaging session will bring together renowned academics, civil society leaders, and influential changemakers from across Africa. The discussion will explore innovative solutions, practical strategies, and action-driven approaches to accelerate gender equity on the continent.

Participants will have the opportunity to:
Engage with experts in gender advocacy and policy-making.
Learn about successful models driving gender equity in African communities.
Connect with like-minded individuals passionate about women’s empowerment.
