On Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Lagos, a significant moment unfolded—one that reflects the enduring power of leadership, legacy, and Pan-African vision. The President of TPADI, Asso. Prof.. Effiong J. Udo, led a distinguished delegation on a courtesy and strategic visit to Chief Tunde Fanimokun, the Agba Akin of Iru Land and Chairman of DSE Foundation, as he marked his 82nd birthday.
But this was more than a ceremonial visit—it was a convergence of purpose, vision, and continental ambition.
A Visit with Purpose
The visit carried three key objectives. First, to celebrate Chief Fanimokun’s milestone birthday and honor his lifelong contributions to public service and development. Second, to formally present the TPADI–Jakande Foundation proposal, advancing discussions that began the previous year under the sponsorship of Engr. Adebayo Erikitola, Chairman of TPADI’s FGPC. Third, to inform the revered statesman of his nomination for the prestigious Pan-African Leadership Pillar Award, to be conferred at the upcoming International Dialogue Conference on Pan-Africanism, scheduled to hold from May 25–28, 2026, at the University of Abomey-Calavi in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
Accompanying the TPADI President were notable figures including Major General Lawrence Jokotola (Rtd), Engr. (Dr.) Bunmi Johnson, Engr. Adebayo Erikitola, Mrs. Tutu Oshosanya, and Engr. Clement Omolaiye—each bringing their expertise and commitment to the Institute’s mission.
A True Pan-African StatesmanFrom the warm reception to the depth of discussions, one thing became unmistakably clear: Chief Tunde Fanimokun embodies the ideals of Pan-Africanism. A seasoned administrator, developmental economist, and philanthropist, his life’s work reflects a quiet but powerful commitment to community, culture, and continent. He is a leader guided by altruism; deeply invested in the future, yet grounded in the values of service and sustainability. His contributions to the development of Lagos State and beyond stand as a testament to a life lived in purpose.
