The President of the Pan-African Dialogue Institute (TPADI), Associate Professor Effiong Joseph Udo, has reiterated the Institute’s dedication to promoting Pan-African ideals and disclosed ongoing progress in securing funding for the proposed Pan-African City complex to be built at the University of Uyo Main Campus.
Prof. Udo made the remarks yesterday during the International Headquarters Management Board Meeting, where he emphasized that service to Africa must remain at the core of the Institute’s mission. He urged members to remain steadfast in championing unity, self-determination, cultural revival, and decolonization across the continent.
President Calls for Strengthening Institutional Infrastructure
During his address, Prof. Udo encouraged the board to explore practical approaches to strengthening TPADI’s operational impact. One of the key proposals included the construction of a 300–500-seater multipurpose hall to support monthly headquarters activities while work on the larger Pan-African City complex progresses.
He noted that the hall would serve as an immediate functional space for programmes and engagements as the Institute continues to develop its long-term infrastructural vision.
Board Chairman Urges Active Participation
Also speaking at the meeting, the Chief Programs Manager and Chairman of the International Headquarters Management Board, Reverend Dr. Emem Umoren, called on board members to fully embrace their roles and begin active implementation of their duties.
Reverend Umoren announced plans for a two-day outdoor retreat, aimed at enhancing the capacity of members and equipping them for the responsibilities ahead.
Meeting Outlines 2025 Priorities
Despite a delayed commencement, the meeting produced a set of immediate priorities, including:
-
Operationalizing the TPADI International Headquarters
-
Strengthening internal structures
-
Planning activities for Africa Day 2025, scheduled for May
-
Reinforcing the Institute’s public engagement strategy
Members were reminded of their oath of allegiance and the voluntary nature of their service to the Pan-African cause.
Call for Renewed Commitment
Prof. Udo encouraged the board to demonstrate renewed dedication in the coming weeks, highlighting the need for collaboration, discipline, and swift execution of assigned tasks to advance the Institute’s strategic objectives.
