The Pan-African Dialogue Institute (TPADI) has officially inaugurated its International Management Board, an event described as a “new chapter in the collective journey toward solidarity, socio-cultural and economic liberation, and the dismantling of colonial and neo-colonial structures” by the Institute’s International President, Associate Professor. Effiong Udo.
The unveiling and investiture ceremony, held at the ICT Lecture Hall of the University of Uyo Permanent Site, brought together scholars, cultural leaders, and advocates of Pan-Africanism for a moment that emphasized unity, vision, and shared purpose.
A Unity of Purpose for the Pan-African Future
In his address, Prof. Udo noted that the induction symbolizes a renewed commitment to advancing the global Pan-African agenda. Drawing inspiration from Ghana’s foremost Pan-Africanist, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he reminded attendees:
“The forces that unite us are greater than the super influences that keep us apart.”
He called on Africans everywhere to reconnect with their shared identity, strengthen continental ties, and work collectively to transform Africa’s future.
Keynote Reflections: Repositioning Nigeria in Global Pan-Africanism
The keynote speech, delivered by a Professor of Aesthetics in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies at the University of Uyo, explored the theme: “Repositioning Nigeria in Global Pan-Africanism.”
The speaker emphasized TPADI’s ongoing quest to awaken a decolonized African consciousness, urging Africans to embrace Pan-African values as the foundation for reclaiming cultural dignity, political agency, and collective progress.
He stressed that engaging with these values is essential for restoring Africa’s essence as a people shaped by resilience, creativity, and unity.
A Commitment to Leadership and Service
In his acceptance remarks, the newly inaugurated Chief Programs Manager of the International Headquarters Management Board, Reverend Dr. Emem Umoren, reaffirmed the board’s readiness to serve with dedication. He pledged that his team will work tirelessly to actualize TPADI’s mandate and expand its influence across Africa and the diaspora.
The University’s Endorsement: A Call for Cultural Reflection
Representing the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Anthonia Essien, delivered a stirring message on the richness of African heritage.
She called on Africans to reflect deeply on their identity and cultural inheritance:
“Africa is richly blessed. We must understand and embrace what it truly means to be African.”
Her remarks highlighted the university’s continued support for TPADI’s intellectual and cultural mission.
