The Pan-African Dialogue Institute (TPADI) hosted An Evening Show in Pan-Africanism at the University of Uyo, curated by the TPADI Youth Commission in collaboration with students from the Departments of Curriculum Studies and Religious & Cultural Studies. The celebration blended culture and scholarship to spark pride, unity, and Pan-African consciousness among young people, and also featured the formal inauguration of new TPADI Youth Ambassadors.

TPADI President, Dr. Effiong Udo, underscored the need to root education in African cultural identity, noting that knowledge is most impactful when grounded in one’s heritage rather than foreign frameworks. He said the gathering reaffirmed a shared commitment to repositioning the University of Uyo—and by extension, Nigeria—as a global hub for the study, practice, and propagation of Pan-Africanism. Describing the event as “an affirmation of our collective commitment to the values, voices, and visions of Pan-Africanism,” Dr. Udo framed it as a cultural-educational initiative designed to inspire and empower young Africans by promoting Pan-African values across schools, colleges of education, and universities.

He also announced a campus-wide exhibition on Pan-Africanism and the Institute’s biennial conference slated for 2026 in the Republic of Benin, inviting public-spirited individuals and organizations to partner and sponsor the initiatives. “Africa’s future is alive within each and every African,” he reminded participants.

Reporting from the event, Daniel Bassey highlighted a rich showcase of African identity—music, drama, spoken word, and traditional storytelling—delivered by five youth ambassador clubs: Choral Music, Dance & Drama, Poetry, Literary Recitations, and Proverbs/Storytelling. The evening affirmed TPADI’s mission to cultivate Pan-African values through youth leadership, scholarship, and creative expression.
